Eragon Live-Action Series Adaptation Adds Todd Harthan, Todd Helbing, and Marc Webb

Exciting news for fans of Christopher Paolini’s beloved YA book series, The Inheritance Cycle! Disney+ is bringing Eragon to life in a new live-action series. The show is making big strides by welcoming Todd Harthan, Todd Helbing, and Marc Webb to its creative team.

Todd Harthan, known for his work on High Potential, will co-create the series alongside Paolini. He and Todd Helbing, from Superman & Lois, will serve as co-showrunners. Marc Webb, of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend fame, is also on board as an executive producer. The writers room for Eragon has been up and running since late last year.

The series is being produced by 20th Television, with support from Disney+, and it’s been in the works since 2022. Bert Salke, a producer behind Percy Jackson and the Olympians, is leading the charge through his Co-Lab 21 banner. In Eragon, viewers will follow the journey of an ordinary teenager chosen to become the first Dragon Rider in a century. He must bond with his dragon, master ancient magic, and confront a tyrannical king.

Eragon is part of The Inheritance Cycle book series, which has captivated audiences worldwide, selling over 40 million copies across 50 countries. The first book, published in 2002, spent 121 weeks on the NYT’s Children’s Books Best Seller list and was previously adapted into a 2006 film. While the movie didn’t receive glowing reviews, the series has a dedicated fan base eagerly awaiting the new adaptation.

Todd Harthan, Todd Helbing, and Marc Webb are joined by a talented team of producers, including Bert Salke, Rachel Moore, and the book series’ author Christopher Paolini. The creative minds behind the show have an impressive track record in the entertainment industry, ensuring that Eragon will be a series to watch.
