Netflix Acquires Ben Affleck’s AI Company for $587 Million

Netflix made headlines earlier this year when it acquired Ben Affleck’s AI company, InterPositive. Questions arose about the company’s purpose, tools for filmmakers, and how Netflix intended to use them, along with Affleck’s role as a senior advisor. The big question on everyone’s mind was the price tag for this acquisition.

In a recent SEC filing, Netflix revealed that it paid a hefty $587 million in cash for InterPositive. The acquisition, completed in March 2026, was valued at nearly $600 million. While the company was not explicitly named in the filing, Netflix announced the deal on March 5, confirming the purchase price.

InterPositive, founded in 2022 by Ben Affleck, aimed to revolutionize visual effects in film production while preserving the creative aspects of filmmaking. Affleck expressed his commitment to protecting human creativity in the industry through InterPositive’s innovative approach.

Using a proprietary dataset and advanced technology, InterPositive developed a model that focused on visual logic and editorial consistency, catering to the complex needs of film production challenges. This acquisition reflects Netflix’s dedication to incorporating cutting-edge technology responsibly in its operations.

Netflix’s co-CEO Ted Sarandos highlighted the significance of this strategic move on the company’s earnings call, emphasizing the potential impact of integrating InterPositive’s technology into their production pipeline. With approximately 300 productions currently utilizing these tools, Netflix is poised to enhance its offerings and continue pushing the boundaries of creativity in streaming entertainment.
