NPO partners with Disney+ for reality competition series “Wolven”

NPO has joined forces with Disney+ to bring viewers in the Netherlands a brand new reality competition series called Wolven. This collaboration marks an exciting new direction for the public broadcaster as they team up with the streaming giant to deliver fresh content to audiences.

Wolven: het spel van list en bedrog will debut on August 29 on BNNVARA on NPO 1 and will also be available for streaming on NPO Start and Disney+. The show will follow a group of contestants competing for a cash prize, with some players secretly working against the group’s efforts.

The format of the show, which originated in France and has been adapted in Germany, challenges players to use strategy and deduction to identify the ‘wolves’ among them before it’s too late. The Dutch version of Wolven will be filmed in a custom-built forest village production hub in France.

This collaboration is part of Disney’s broader European strategy to partner with free-to-air broadcasters across the continent to bring engaging content to viewers. By teaming up with NPO, Disney hopes to introduce local stories to a wider audience while giving viewers more entertainment options.

In addition to Wolven, Disney-owned National Geographic has greenlit a new series called Tucci in Great Britain, featuring the one-of-a-kind Stanley Tucci on a culinary adventure across the country. The show promises to showcase the diverse and delicious food culture of the UK and builds on Tucci’s previous travel series.

Both NPO and Disney are excited about this new partnership and the opportunity to introduce audiences to compelling stories and engaging content. By working together, they aim to reach a broader audience and provide viewers with even more entertainment options.
