Disney+ and NPO Collaborate on Dutch Adaptation of Reality Series “Wolven”
Disney+ and Dutch public broadcaster NPO have teamed up for an exciting new project—an adaptation of the reality competition series Wolven: het spel van list en bedrog. This Dutch version is set to premiere this summer, starting on August 29th on NPO 1 and also available on NPO Start and Disney+.
The collaboration marks a significant step for NPO, as they work alongside Disney+ to bring local productions to a wider audience. The format of the show, originally from France as Loups, focuses on strategy, deception, and social gameplay. Hosted by comedian Pieter Derks and presenter Soundos El Ahmadi, the show is produced by Banijay label SimpelZodiak.
Lucien Brouwer from NPO expressed excitement about reaching new audiences through this partnership, emphasizing the importance of working together with commercial organizations to share content with a broader audience in the Netherlands. Karl Holmes, General Manager of Disney+ EMEA, highlighted the communal viewing experience that Wolven offers, promising intrigue and excitement that keeps viewers guessing, making it a perfect show to watch together.
This collaboration is part of Disney+’s larger European partnership strategy, which includes working with broadcasters in various countries such as ITV in the UK, RTVE and Atresmedia in Spain, Rai in Italy, and German public broadcasters ARD and ZDF. The original format of the show was created by Fary and Panayotis Pascot and has already seen success in France with three seasons.
The Dutch production of Wolven will be filmed in a dedicated production hub in France this summer, adding to the growing list of international adaptations of the popular reality competition format.
