Amazon AI Creators’ Fund Greenlights 3 TV Series for Prime Video

Amazon recently announced the launch of its new Gen AI Creators’ Fund during its AI on the Lot event, in collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios and Amazon Web Services. This exciting initiative aims to support startup projects for filmmakers and digital creatives using AI production tech. As a result, Prime Video subscribers will soon have access to three new TV series produced with AI technology.

The three projects, Love, Diana Music Hunters, Cupcake & Friends (from BuzzFeed Studios), and Punky Dunk, will be hitting screens in the future. These shows were created with the help of Project Nara, one of Amazon’s AI tools, which provides access to Adobe Suite, Maya, Kling, and other resources to bring stories to life in new and innovative ways.

According to CNET’s Aaron Pruner, who attended the Amazon event, Love, Diana Music Hunters is geared towards toddlers and preschool audiences. The show features live-action K-Pop-loving characters that are transformed into animated versions, creating a unique blend of familiar animation style mixed with AI elements. Punky Dunk, a show following a punk-rock duck and his cat companion through an adventurous LA setting filled with monsters, aliens, and family drama, employs stop-motion-style animation. Cupcake & Friends, on the other hand, has a sleepover theme with claymation visuals and a quirky Adult Swim vibe.

This move by Amazon to integrate generative AI into its content production aligns with the broader trend of entertainment brands leveraging AI technology. Netflix, for example, used AI to deage characters in Happy Gilmore 2, while Disney has also explored AI-driven animation processes. As more companies adopt AI in content creation, viewers can look forward to a new era of innovative, AI-infused entertainment experiences.
