The project was first discussed back in August 2024 and was later picked up by Universal International Studios. Now, the series is officially moving forward at Peacock, led by writer and executive producer Chris Yost.

The show, based on the popular LitRPG books by Matt Dinniman, combines sci-fi storytelling with video game elements. It follows a man and his talking cat as they navigate a deadly, game-like world filled with monsters and challenges. The series is known for blending dark comedy with RPG-style action, which will likely be reflected in the adaptation.
