Lee Byung-hun Starts Production on ‘The Koreans’ Series

Production has officially begun on “The Koreans,” a Disney+ K-Drama based on the FX series “The Americans.” This new series features Lee Byung-hun and Han Jimin as North Korean spies posing as a middle-class family in South Korea during the early 1990s.

The story follows this family as they hide their true identities while working undercover to undermine South Korea from within. Balancing loyalty to their homeland with their personal lives, the couple navigates the challenges of maintaining their cover while being hunted by a Korean counterintelligence agent.

Lee Byung-hun, known for his roles in “Squid Game” and “No Other Choice,” stars alongside Han Jimin, from “Heavenly Ever After” and “Love Scout.” Ans Gilho directs the series, produced by Imaginus and Studio AA.

The adaptation of the original FX series is done by Park Eunkyo, known for her work on “Made in Korea” and “Mother.” The show was initially created by Joe Weisberg and showrun by Weisberg and Joel Fields, starring Keri Russell and Matthew.
