Director Carl Rinsch Convicted of Defrauding Netflix of $11M and Purchasing Exotic Vehicles

A Hollywood director was recently convicted of scamming Netflix out of a whopping $11 million meant for a show that never saw the light of day. Instead of using the money for its intended purpose, Carl Erik Rinsch, known for directing the film “47 Ronin,” treated himself to quite the shopping spree. The list? Five Rolls-Royces, a Ferrari, a million dollars’ worth of mattresses, and luxury bedding. Talk about extravagant!

Following the lavish purchases, prosecutors discovered that Rinsch had made several other indulgent acquisitions, including watches, clothes, linens, and bedding, amounting to an eye-watering $652,000. To add to the spending spree, he paid off around $1.8 million in credit card bills. A grand total of $11 million down the drain. And the worst part? The show, dubbed “White Horse,” was never completed.

Rinsch’s defense attorney, Benjamin Zeman, protested the verdict, suggesting it sets a dangerous precedent. Meanwhile, U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton made it clear that when someone swindles investors, they will be pursued and held accountable. Rinsch’s sentencing is scheduled for April, leaving many speculating on his future. Unfortunately, Netflix declined to comment on the situation.
