It’s official: Billionaires’ Bunker, the highly-anticipated series from the creators of Money Heist, will not be returning for a second season on Netflix. Despite being a major production from Netflix Spain, the streamer has decided to cancel the show after just one season.

According to reports from Spanish news outlet El País, the decision to cancel Billionaires’ Bunker was made quietly behind the scenes. The series, which debuted on Netflix in September 2025, followed a group of billionaires seeking refuge in a luxury bunker during World War III. The show featured a stellar cast including Pau Simón, Alícia Falcó, Miren Ibarguren, Agustina Bisio, and Joaquín Furriel, with filming taking place at Netflix’s Tres Cantos campus near Madrid.

The cancellation comes as a surprise, given the initial hype surrounding the show. Netflix had positioned Billionaires’ Bunker as a flagship production, but ultimately decided not to move forward with a second season. The first season ended with a cliffhanger, leaving fans with unanswered questions about the fate of the characters.

Diego Ávalos, Netflix’s VP of Content in Spain, had previously praised the series, calling it the most ambitious project in the history of Spanish television. Despite this, the show did not meet the streaming giant’s expectations for viewership.

During its run, Billionaires’ Bunker managed to make it into the Netflix top 10 rankings for four weeks, accumulating 152.0 million viewing hours and 20.7 million completed views. While the show performed well compared to other Spanish series premieres, it did not reach the same level of success as Money Heist: Berlin, a spin-off of the popular series.
