Beloved Video Game Adapted into Disney+ Series with Title and Release Date

The trend of adapting beloved video games into television shows continues to gain momentum, with Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding series joining the lineup. Recently, at a convention, Kojima, a highly respected figure in the gaming world, announced the expansion of his Death Stranding franchise with a new animated series set to premiere on Disney+.

The animated series, titled Death Stranding Isolations (for now), is scheduled to debut on Disney+ in 2027. Kojima, who is known for his groundbreaking work in the gaming industry, will be taking on executive producing duties for the show, while Takayuki Sano of Bullet/Bullet fame has been tapped as the director. Speaking at the event where the series was unveiled, Kojima described the upcoming project as “pretty mind-blowing” for Death Stranding fans and mentioned that new characters will be introduced in the show.

Kojima shared his motivation for venturing into animated series, expressing his desire for a broader audience to experience the world of Death Stranding beyond gamers who are familiar with his games. While specific plot details for Isolations are still under wraps, it’s known that the series will feature traditional hand-drawn 2D animation. E&H Production, recognized for its work on Ninja Kamui and Red Cat Ramen series, has taken on production duties and is already working on the project.

The first game in the Death Stranding franchise, released in 2019, received critical acclaim, with a sequel game titled Death Stranding 2: On the Beach launched this year for PlayStation 5. However, the Isolations series will embark on a new narrative pathway separate from the games, focusing on the adventures of a young man and woman.
