Disney Plus Gains 3.8 Million Subscribers, Hulu Adds 8.6 Million During Kimmel Controversy

In the latest quarter, Disney wrapped up its 2025 fiscal year with some impressive gains in streaming subscribers. Disney+ and Hulu saw a combined total of 195.7 million subscriptions as of Sept. 27, marking an increase of 12.4 million over the three-month period.

Disney+ alone added 3.8 million new subscribers, bringing its total to 131.6 million. The U.S. and Canada accounted for 1.5 million of those new subscribers, reaching a total of 59.3 million in the region. The addition of new content and promotional bundles likely contributed to the growth in subscriptions.

Overall, Disney reported a 39% increase in direct-to-consumer operating income, exceeding Wall Street expectations by 2.1 million subscribers. This positive performance underscores Disney’s strong position in the competitive streaming landscape.
