Frankenstein Fans Shocked by Star’s Double Role

Netflix users were surprised by a casting decision in Guillermo del Toro’s new film, “Frankenstein.” While Oscar Isaac plays scientist Victor Frankenstein and Jacob Elordi portrays the creature he creates, viewers were shocked to discover that Mia Goth plays two roles in the film. Goth stars as Lady Elizabeth Harlander, the fiancée of Victor’s brother, William, as well as Frankenstein’s mother, Baroness Claire, in flashbacks.

Fans took to social media to express their surprise, with many admitting they didn’t recognize Goth in her dual roles. Some users noted that the distinct costumes helped differentiate the characters, with Claire dressed in deep red and Elizabeth in green.

Isaac hinted at the Oedipal undertones of the casting choice, as Victor falls in love with Elizabeth, whose resemblance to his mother sparks intrigue. Meanwhile, director Guillermo del Toro praised Elordi for stepping in for Andrew Garfield, who had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts.

Despite the initial hiccup, the casting switch was deemed a success, with Elordi seamlessly embodying the role of the creature. “Frankenstein” is now available for streaming, offering viewers an intriguing take on Mary Shelley’s classic novel.
