Yoco’s Rochelle Knock Named Head of Disney+ and Networks in Sub-Saharan Africa

Rochelle Knock is set to make a significant impact when she joins The Walt Disney Company in December as Vice President, Disney+ & Networks and Country Head for Sub-Saharan Africa. Her extensive background in media, telecommunications, and fintech positions her as a valuable asset for Disney as they navigate Africa’s dynamic media and streaming landscape.

With over 15 years of experience, Knock has honed her skills in consumer insights and digital innovation. Previously, she led Customer Value Management at Yoco Technologies, a prominent South African fintech company, focusing on strategies to enhance customer engagement and retention in the digital payments sector.

Transitioning from a thriving startup like Yoco to a global entertainment giant like Disney showcases Knock’s consistent focus on elevating customer experiences to drive growth. Her previous executive roles at MultiChoice Group further highlight her ability to merge data, marketing, and technology to build consumer-centric businesses.

In her new role as Disney’s Country Head for Sub-Saharan Africa, Knock will oversee operations in 40 markets, including managing Disney’s direct-to-consumer services like Disney+ and its family and factual networks. She will work closely with Disney’s EMEA leadership to align local growth strategies with global priorities.

Simon Amselem, Senior Vice President, Direct-to-Consumer & Networks and Country Manager Iberia and Sub-Saharan Africa, expressed his confidence in Knock’s appointment, emphasizing her industry knowledge, customer value expertise, and the ability to drive growth through storytelling.

Knock herself is thrilled about the opportunity to lead Disney’s team in Africa, highlighting her passion for storytelling and innovation. With Disney’s longstanding presence in Africa and the recent launch of Disney+ in South Africa, Knock’s arrival signals an exciting new chapter for the company on the continent, marked by local insights, digital transformation, and a strong understanding of African audience preferences.
