Disney+ Developing New “Animorphs” Series

Disney is known for adapting popular young adult books into engaging series, and now they’re developing a new show based on the beloved “Animorphs” book series. The story follows a group of teenagers who discover a hidden threat while navigating the complexities of high school life.

In the first book, readers are introduced to Jake, Rachel, Tobias, Cassie, and Marco, who stumble upon an alien spaceship and gain the ability to transform into animals. As the Animorphs, they become unlikely heroes in a secret battle to save the planet from an unknown enemy, even those closest to them.

Created by Katherine Applegate and Michael Grant, the “Animorphs” series has captivated fans since 1996 with over 35 million copies sold worldwide across 54 books. The upcoming Disney+ series will be spearheaded by Ryan Coogler, known for his work on “Black Panther” and other Disney+ projects.

Among the executive producers are Zinzi Coogler, Sev Ohanian, Bayan Wolcott, Iole Lucchese, and Caitlin Friedman. The show is in its early stages, so there’s no word yet on casting or a release date. Like any project in development, details may change along the way.

“Animorphs” promises to bring more original family-friendly content to Disney+, drawing on its established fan base for support. Are you excited about the upcoming series? Let me know on social media!
