Rhea Seehorn reflects on joining Pluribus before reading the script

Rhea Seehorn, known for her work in Better Call Saul, took home the Best Actress in a Drama Series award at the 2026 Critics’ Choice Awards for her role in Pluribus. This isn’t the first time she’s teamed up with creator Vince Gilligan, as they previously worked together on Breaking Bad spinoff Better Call Saul. Pluribus made its debut in November and is now available for streaming on Apple TV+.

In a recent interview after her win, Seehorn shared why she signed up for the lead role in Pluribus before even seeing the script. She expressed her trust in Vince Gilligan, stating, “Honestly, I’ll go wherever Vince wants me to go.” When Gilligan told her he had a role for her but wasn’t ready to share the script, Seehorn didn’t hesitate to say yes.

In Pluribus, Seehorn portrays Carol Sturka, a romance author who becomes one of only 13 individuals immune to an alien virus that has transformed most of the population into a strangely content hive mind. Apple TV+ described the show as follows: “the most miserable person on Earth [Carol] must save the world from happiness.”

Reflecting on her collaboration with Gilligan, Seehorn revealed that he wanted to give her different types of roles after watching her work on Better Call Saul. Gilligan described her character in Pluribus as a troubled hero striving to save the world.

Seehorn expressed her admiration for Gilligan, calling him one of the best writers of our generation. She recalled his words on their first day of working together on Pluribus, where he mentioned that they had been collaborating for 10 years, a realization that amazed Seehorn.

Pluribus promises viewers an intriguing storyline, and Seehorn’s portrayal of Carol adds depth to the character. If you’re looking for a new series to watch, check out Pluribus on Apple TV+.
