Death Stranding Anime Coming to Disney+ in 2027

Hideo Kojima, the mastermind behind the Death Stranding video game franchise, is taking his universe to the small screen with a new animated series set to debut on Disney+. The show is tentatively titled Death Stranding Isolations and is expected to premiere in 2027.

This marks the first collaboration between Kojima Productions and Disney+, promising to bring the game’s world to a broader audience. Kojima himself will be stepping in as the executive producer, while Sano Takayuki takes on the role of director. Concept art for the series is in the works, designed by Ilya Kuvshinov, known for his stunning work on Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045. The animation will be brought to life by Japan’s E&H Production studio.

Unlike the video games, the anime series will introduce a new, original story. It will follow the journey of a young man and woman in a traditional hand-drawn 2D animation style.

The Death Stranding franchise made its debut on PlayStation in 2019 and has since gained a global following of over 20 million players. The series recently expanded with Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, available on PlayStation 5.

Joining the ranks of successful video game adaptations like Castlevania and Arcane, the Disney+ adaptation of Death Stranding is expected to be a major hit with Kojima’s creative vision and Disney’s backing.

As more and more video game properties make their way to streaming platforms, Death Stranding Isolations is set to capture the attention of fans eagerly awaiting this game-to-anime transition. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting project!
