Tving Content Hub on Disney+ Japan: New Platform for Japanese Users
South Korean streaming platform Tving is teaming up with entertainment giant Disney+ to launch a special content hub in Japan. This new feature, called “Tving Collection,” will debut on Disney+ in Japan and will include popular Tving series like “Dear X” as well as hit titles from CJ ENM, Tving’s parent company.
This marks a significant milestone as it is the first time Disney+ has created an internal content hub in the Asia-Pacific region for an external brand. Tving is excited about this partnership as it allows them to showcase their Korean content library in Japan, leveraging Disney+’s established presence in the market to minimize risks.
CEO of Tving, Choi Ju-hui, sees this collaboration as a great opportunity to highlight Tving’s brand strength in Japan. Additionally, Disney+ is looking to stand out in Japan’s competitive streaming landscape by incorporating Korean content into its offerings.
Tving has been focusing on expanding globally this year, especially since the growth of domestic streaming users in South Korea has been stagnant. With Netflix’s dominance in the Korean market, Tving is looking towards international markets for growth. They recently expanded into 17 Asia-Pacific regions, including Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Southeast Asia, through a partnership with HBO Max.
By joining forces with Disney+ in Japan, Tving is hoping to reach a wider audience and strengthen its position in the global streaming industry. This partnership is not only beneficial for Tving but also offers Disney+ a chance to diversify its content and appeal to a broader range of viewers.
