Disney+ Announces “The Cheetah Girls: Next Gen”

Disney is known for reviving classic franchises for new generations, like “Camp Rock”, “Descendants”, and “High School Musical”, and now they’ve greenlit a new project called “The Cheetah Girls: Next Gen” for the Disney Channel and Disney+. This movie follows Cheetah Girls Galleria and Chanel, along with Galleria’s daughter Faith and her friends, as they travel to Africa to volunteer at a wildlife sanctuary. Along the way, they discover the true Cheetah spirit and save the preserve, all while testing their friendship and finding their voice.

The movie will feature a mix of familiar faces and fresh talent, with Raven-Symoné and Adrienne Bailon reprising their roles, along with others like Lynn Whitfield and Lori Alter. A new cast of young actresses will also star in the film, including Leah Sava’ Jeffries and Carmen Sanchez. The film is set to be music-driven and is currently in production in South Africa.

The team behind the camera includes executive producer Debra Martin Chase, along with Raven-Symoné and directed by Bille Woodruff. The movie is expected to continue the legacy of empowering young people to use their voices and connect with fans, both old and new.

“The Cheetah Girls” franchise has a long history with Disney, and this new installment aims to honor that legacy while also appealing to a new generation of viewers. After twenty years, “The Cheetah Girls” still resonates as a cultural touchstone of early-2000s pop culture. If you’re a fan of the original films, or just looking for some nostalgic Disney Channel content, be sure to check out the original movies, now streaming on Disney+.
