HBO Max Unveils New Asian Originals Slate for Streamers

is summer, HBO Max will feature two Indonesian originals. “Gone Galela” is a six-episode HBO Original directed by Ifa Isfansyah, telling the story of a young journalist investigating a decades-old mystery on a remote island in eastern Indonesia. The all-Indonesian cast includes Christian Sugiono, Joko Anwar, Tara Basro, and Teuku Rifnu Wikana. The series premieres on Aug. 21.

Finally, “Something Gear” is a 12-episode HBO Original directed by Witra Asliga, which follows the adventures of four friends who run a car wash service that doubles as a garage. The series stars Enji Shahputra, Shia Labeouf, Gading Marten, and Hamish Daud. “Something Gear” will debut on Aug. 28.
