RSC Reveals Full Cast for The Cherry Orchard

The Royal Shakespeare Company has just revealed the full cast for Laura Wade’s fresh take on Anton Chekhov’s The Cherry Orchard, directed by RSC Co-Artistic Director Tamara Harvey. They’ve assembled an impressive group of actors to bring this classic play to life.

Kenneth Branagh takes on the role of Lopakhin, alongside Helen Hunt as Madame Ranyevskaya, and Bill Pullman as Gaev. Joining them are Chumisa Dornford-May as Anya, Alfred Enoch as Trofimov, Esther Smith as Varya, and Sophie Stone as Sharlotta.

The production is set to open at the Swan Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon from July 10 to August 29, with the press night scheduled for July 21. Director Tamara Harvey is thrilled about the talented cast coming together for this vibrant new adaptation of Chekhov’s final play.

Alfred Enoch, known for his recent successes in Henry V and Pericles, returns to the RSC to take on the role of Trofimov. Chumisa Dornford-May, fresh from her excellent performance in Into the Woods, makes her RSC debut as Anya. Esther Smith, who has impressed both on stage and screen, will play Varya, and Sophie Stone, known for her work in The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, joins as Sharlotta.
