Cooper Hoffman cast as burnt-out snowboarding star in Hulu drama pilot “Durango”
In Hulu’s upcoming drama pilot “Durango,” Cooper Hoffman is set to lead as Mikey, a burned-out snowboarding star who is chasing a quick buck. The show tells the story of Mikey, a ski bum townie on the hunt for a thrill, and Bunny, a homeschooled runaway working as a waitress, as they navigate a web of bad decisions and unexpected love while running from various dangers in pursuit of their own American dream.
Mikey, played by Hoffman, is described as a laid-back and street-smart local snowboarding legend whose Olympic dreams were derailed by an injury. In a twist of fate, he enters into a green card marriage with Bunny for money, but as feelings develop, he finds himself entangled in something far riskier.
Eliza Clark, the writer of the pilot, leads as executive producer alongside Michael Ellenberg for Media Res. The series is a joint production between 20th Century Television and Media Res. Fans of Hoffman can catch him next in Gregg Araki’s “I Want Your Sex” alongside Olivia Wilde, hitting theaters on July 31. He also stars in Maude Apatow’s “Poetic License,” as well as Luca Guadagnino’s “Artificial.”
