Eliza Clark’s ‘Durango’ Secures Hulu Pilot Order
Hulu is adding another exciting drama series to its lineup, thanks to a new pilot from Eliza Clark, the showrunner of ‘Y: The Last Man’. The pilot, called ‘Durango’, revolves around a couple facing tough odds. Clark is not only writing the project but also executive producing alongside Michael Ellenberg and Lindsey Springer of Media Res. The series is being produced by Media Res and 20th Television.
The logline for ‘Durango’ gives us a glimpse into the story: “Mikey is a ski bum townie chasing a buzz. Bunny is a homeschooled runaway working as a greasy-spoon waitress. Together they’re riding an avalanche of bad decisions and falling in love while running from cops, criminals, and Mikey’s wife in pursuit of their own American dream.”
‘Durango’ has been in the works at Hulu for about a year and is part of a wave of drama pilots ordered recently by the streaming service. Other upcoming dramas include Ryan Coogler’s X-Files reboot, a Buffy the Vampire Slayer update, the prep school mystery ‘Foster Dade’ from Greg Berlanti and Bash Doran, and ‘Southern Bastards’, based on the graphic novel and executive produced by Nia DaCosta and Bill Dubuque. Hulu is also developing a drama titled ‘Vatican City’ with Robert and Michelle King.
Eliza Clark, known for her work on ‘Y: The Last Man’, Animal Kingdom, Extant, The Killing, and Rubicon, is not only a versatile writer and showrunner but also a successful playwright. Her plays have been produced at various prestigious theaters, such as The Kirk Douglas Theater, The Cherry Lane Theatre, and more.
Exciting things are in store for Hulu’s lineup, and ‘Durango’ is set to be a promising addition to their slate of drama series. Be sure to keep an eye out for updates on this intriguing new pilot!
