Disney+ Introduces New Hulu Themed Profile Avatars
e wanted Hulu-themed profile avatars. It’s been a long time coming, but now Disney+ is finally rolling out a new selection of profile avatars based on popular Hulu shows for bundled subscribers in the United States.
For over five years, we’ve had access to shows like “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Paradise” through the Star hub, which transitioned to Hulu last year for a more cohesive brand. However, due to Hulu and Disney+ being separate platforms in the US, we haven’t had the chance to choose more mature characters as profile avatars within Disney+—until now.
This week, bundled subscribers can link their Hulu and Disney+ profiles, merging their watch history, watchlist, and recommendations. Along with this, Hulu subscribers within Disney+ can now select from a variety of new Hulu-themed profile avatars based on popular shows like “Bob’s Burgers,” “Family Guy,” “Futurama,” “Handmaid’s Tale,” and more.
Although the exact number of Hulu-themed avatars is unknown, characters from various popular shows and films are included in the initial preview. These avatars are currently only available in the US. However, since these shows are available on Disney+ internationally, we can hope for a global rollout in the future.
To change your profile avatar, head to Profile settings within Disney+. Keep in mind that the new avatars are currently only rolling out in the United States for bundled subscribers. Personally, I’m excited to switch from Wolverine to either Peter or Stewie from “Family Guy” once they become available worldwide.
It’s awesome to see this merger between Hulu and Disney+ taking shape, even if it has been a long wait! What new Hulu avatar are you looking forward to using for your Disney+ profile? Let me know on social media!
