Season 2 of Rivals: Surprising Moment That Stood Out
Season two of Rivals hit Disney+ on Friday, May 15, and I was tasked with watching the first three episodes to give you the lowdown. The first season, featuring the likes of David Tennant and Aidan Turner, was a guilty pleasure, but could the second live up to the hype of being “bigger, bolder, bonkier”? I must admit, the word “bonkier” was a new one for me, but Disney+ seemed to know something I didn’t.
As I settled in to watch on May 15, the show wasted no time getting into the action with some steamy scenes right off the bat. If you’re not a fan of on-screen nudity, this may not be the show for you. But the real twist that caught me off guard wasn’t the sex, it was the unexpected appearance of EastEnders’ Pam St. Clement, known for her role as Pat Butcher. Seeing her in a new role immediately made me think of her iconic soap character.
Beyond the surprises, this season promises to be even campier than the last, especially with Rupert Everett joining the cast. His character, Malise Gordon, adds a new dynamic to the mix of drama and relationships. And keep an ear out for a throwback musical moment featuring a Spitting Image hit from 1986.
Unlike the first season, this one doesn’t drop all at once, with episodes coming out weekly until June 5, followed by a second part later in the year. It’s a bit of a tease for binge-watchers, but if that’s my main complaint, it’s a good sign for the rest of the season. So buckle up and get ready for more drama, scandal, and surprises in season two of Rivals.
