John Travolta, 72, Flies Personal Plane to Cannes and Stuns at Red Carpet with Youthful Appearance

John Travolta made quite the impression at the 79th Cannes Film Festival, even though he’s 72, he looked absolutely dapper at 42. Stepping onto the red carpet in Cannes, he sported a sleek black three-piece suit, a cream-colored wool beret, and wire-rimmed glasses, a first for him at such an event. His appearance had folks buzzing online, speculating on everything from his slimmer frame to his darker beard – it was quite the topic of discussion.

It was a big night for Travolta as he had not one, but two premieres lined up at Cannes. First, he attended the screening of “Karma,” a French psychological thriller with Marion Cotillard in the lead, before heading to the world premiere of his directorial debut, “Propeller One-Way Night Coach.” Walking the red carpet, he was accompanied by his 26-year-old daughter, Ella Bleu Travolta, who stars in the movie as flight attendant Doris. The father-daughter duo looked sharp in coordinated black-tie outfits.

“Karma” is a thriller by Guillaume Canet, marking his return to the genre after 20 years. Marion Cotillard plays a woman who seeks refuge in a religious cult to escape a child-disappearance inquiry, only to realize it’s the same cult she fled in her childhood. The film received a standing ovation that lasted for six minutes during its Friday premiere.

On the other hand, “Propeller One-Way Night Coach” is a family aviation adventure adapted from Travolta’s 1997 children’s book of the same name. Selected as the first film for the festival, it’s being showcased in the non-competitive Cannes Premiere category and will be globally released on Apple TV+ on May 29.

The festival’s director, Thierry Frémaux, surprised Travolta with a prestigious Honorary Palme d’Or before the screening of “Propeller.” Overwhelmed, Travolta expressed his gratitude, comparing the moment to receiving an Oscar. The audience, in turn, gave him a well-deserved standing ovation.

An experienced pilot, Travolta flew his own plane from Florida to Nice for Cannes, bringing Ella along for the eight-hour-45-minute journey. Prior to takeoff, he even posted a video on Instagram, playing the role of captain and promising complimentary champagne along the way.

Excitement is building for the release of “Propeller One-Way Night Coach” on May 29, with much of the buzz focusing on Travolta’s outstanding presence at Cannes. It looks like he’s stealing the show both on and off the screen.
