Stuart Fails Universe: HBO Max Premiere Date & First Teaser Release

Stuart Bloom is facing a major dilemma in the first teaser for HBO Max’s upcoming comedy series, Stuart Fails to Save the Universe. And it’s not just one problem, it’s a whole multiverse of problems!

In this spinoff from The Big Bang Theory, Stuart (played by Kevin Sussman) finds himself in a bit of a sticky situation after breaking the space-time continuum and attempting to fix it—with less than stellar results. HBO Max has officially set the premiere date for July 23, making it the third spinoff from The Big Bang Theory, following Young Sheldon and Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.

The show, shot in a single-camera style, promises to be a wild ride featuring wormholes, multiple Stuarts, giant bugs, and an all-around tough time for our protagonist. Check out the teaser below to get a sneak peek!

In Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, we follow comic book store owner Stuart Bloom as he embarks on a mission to restore reality after accidentally causing a multiverse Armageddon by tampering with a device built by Sheldon and Leonard. Alongside his girlfriend Denise (played by Lauren Lapkus), geologist friend Bert (played by Brian Posehn), and the ever-annoying Barry Kripke (played by John Ross Bowie), Stuart encounters alternate-universe versions of beloved characters from The Big Bang Theory. And as the title suggests, things do not go as planned.

According to Posehn, who spoke at the CCXP Mexico City convention in April, the thrill of the show lies in watching Stuart fail week after week. Sussman teased that viewers can expect to see more of Stuart’s blossoming romance with Denise, a storyline that was just beginning to take shape as The Big Bang Theory wrapped up.

Created by the masterminds behind The Big Bang Theory, Chuck Lorre, Bill Prady, and Zak Penn, Stuart Fails to Save the Universe promises to deliver a mix of humor and adventure. The series is produced by Lorre’s production company in association with Warner Bros. TV.
