Dr. Pimple Popper Sandra Lee Stroke Incident Filmed

Dr. Sandra Lee, widely recognized for her work on TLC’s “Dr. Pimple Popper,” recently shared her experience of suffering a stroke while filming her show back in 2025. The Queens-born dermatologist, age 55, was tending to patients at her practice in Southern California during the filming of the second season of “Dr. Pimple Popper: Breaking Out” when she began to experience symptoms of an ischemic stroke on November 20.

Lee described feeling a sudden hot flash, followed by sweating and a sense of being unwell. That night, she noticed shooting pains in one leg and had difficulty walking downstairs. The next morning, her hand weakened, and she struggled to speak clearly — all signs that led her to suspect a stroke, a diagnosis confirmed by an MRI in the emergency room.

Reflecting on this unsettling experience, Lee revealed that as a physician, she couldn’t ignore the slurred speech and weakness on one side, despite hoping it was just a dream. It was a shock to realize that part of her brain had been affected by the stroke. Lee admitted that neither her blood pressure nor her cholesterol levels were well-managed at the time, and the stress of balancing patients and the show likely exacerbated the situation.

Production of the series was put on hold during the two months Lee underwent physical and occupational therapy before returning to work in January. She emphasized the importance of seeking medical help if experiencing similar symptoms to those she had. Lee is currently taking blood thinners and continuing physical therapy at home but reports feeling nearly back to normal. Her doctor agrees, stating that her symptoms have significantly improved.

Lee’s story sheds light on the reality of strokes and the importance of addressing symptoms promptly. She is using her platform to encourage others to seek medical attention if they suspect they may be experiencing a stroke. By sharing her journey to recovery, Lee hopes to raise awareness and help others in similar situations.
