Disney+ signs content deal with Spanish public broadcaster
One of Spain’s favorite cooking shows, MasterChef, is now hitting the small screen and the streaming scene at the same time! Disney+ has partnered with RTVE in Spain to bring some of the public broadcaster’s most popular shows to the streaming platform, including MasterChef and scripted series.
In a groundbreaking move, Disney+ will air MasterChef’s 14th season on its platform right after it airs on RTVE’s La1 channel. The celebrity version of the show will also be available on Disney+. Plus, viewers can look forward to watching the upcoming drama Rojo Sobre Blanco on both TVE and Disney+ starting from March 31st.
This collaboration marks Disney+’s strategy to team up with free-to-air broadcasters to reach younger audiences. Similar deals have been made in Spain with Atresmedia, as well as in Germany and Portugal with other broadcasters. Karl Holmes, Disney+ EMEA’s general manager, expressed excitement about this partnership, emphasizing the platform’s commitment to showcasing Spain’s creative talent and high-quality local storytelling to new audiences.
Keep an eye out for more exciting titles to be announced in the future as Disney+ continues to expand its entertainment offerings through these strategic partnerships. It’s a win-win situation for viewers and fans of MasterChef and other shows making their way to Disney+ from RTVE!
