Hardcore Buffy Fan Rants About Hulu Bailing on New Sunnydale

Buffy the Vampire Slayer is a classic TV show loved by many, and fans were excited for the revival series, New Sunnydale. Sarah Michelle Gellar, who played Buffy in the original series, confirmed her return, and a full season of New Sunnydale was ordered. But recently, Hulu announced that the show has been scrapped, and fans like me are not happy about it.

SMG shared that an exec at Hulu didn’t appreciate Buffy and didn’t see its significance. This news was disappointing, especially since fans were eagerly waiting for the new series. As a die-hard Buffy fan, I was thrilled when the pilot was filmed and even more excited when a full season was greenlit. The cancellation of the show after all that anticipation has left many fans frustrated.

It’s not uncommon for TV pilots to get canceled, but the way Hulu handled the announcement of a full season and then changed its mind is what irks me the most. Sarah Michelle Gellar has been through a similar situation before with another pilot, but the difference this time is the initial excitement and subsequent disappointment for fans like me.

Hulu is offering a 30-day free trial for new and eligible returning customers to stream the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer series. Plans start at $9.99 a month after the trial period. As a Buffy fan, I’m disappointed by the cancellation of New Sunnydale, and I hope that one day we’ll get to see the Duchess of Buffonia back on screen.
