“Buffy the Vampire Slayer Reboot Cancelled by Hulu”
Fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer were in for some disappointing news recently. The much-anticipated reboot of the beloved show, titled Buffy the Vampire Slayer: New Sunnydale, has been cancelled by Hulu before it even got off the ground. In an Instagram post, Sarah Michelle Gellar shared the unfortunate update with fans, expressing her sadness at the decision.
The reboot was set to be written and executive produced by Nora Zuckerman and Lilla Zuckerman, with acclaimed director Chloé Zhao at the helm. Gellar was also on board to executive produce and star in the new series. Despite the cancellation, she made it clear that her love for Buffy and appreciation for the character remain unchanged.
On the red carpet of the 98th Oscars, Zhao commented that she was not surprised by Hulu’s decision, but emphasized the importance of staying true to the spirit of the original show. She reflected on the incredible experience of working on the project and expressed optimism about what the future might hold.
While the reboot may not be happening anymore, fans can still cherish the memories of the original series and the impact it had on pop culture. It’s a bummer for sure, but as Gellar cheekily pointed out in her post, in case of an apocalypse, you can still beep her. Stay tuned for more updates on the world of streaming entertainment as news continues to unfold.
