Amazon Increases Prices for Ad-Free Streaming Tier to Prime Video Ultra
Amazon is making some changes to its Prime Video subscription options, starting on April 10, 2026. The ad-free tier will now be known as Prime Video Ultra, and the price will increase from $2.99 to $4.99 per month. This new subscription will come with some exciting perks, including exclusive access to 4K/UHD streaming, the ability to have five concurrent streams (up from three), and up to 100 downloads (up from 25).
In addition to these changes, Amazon is also upping the number of downloads available on the standard Prime Video plan to 50 and increasing the number of concurrent streams to four. Recently, Prime Video launched the new Guy Ritchie series Young Sherlock. Our review gave the first season a solid 7/10, describing it as “harmless fun with a clever spin on ‘Napoleon of Crime’ James Moriarty.” While the “eight-hour movie” format can be a bit overwhelming, with Sherlock sometimes getting lost in the ensemble, the show has good chemistry, energy, and synergy.
Prime Video is also working on a live-action streaming series adaptation of God of War, which has sparked mixed reactions. Amazon’s expanding offerings make it a popular choice among many streaming users, but we would love to know – which streaming service do you use the most? Apple TV, Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, Hulu, Prime Video (Amazon), Peacock, Paramount+, or something else? Let us know in the comments!
