Amazon Prime Video Ad-Free Tier Now 40% More Expensive with New ‘Ultra’ Name

Amazon is shaking things up with its Prime Video subscription tiers, introducing a new “Ultra” plan that offers some exciting perks. The cost of the ad-free Ultra plan is going up by 40%, moving from $2.99 to $4.99 per month. But don’t worry, you’ll now have access to five concurrent streams and exclusive 4K/UHD streaming. Plus, you’ll be able to download up to 100 shows or movies for offline viewing, which is a big jump from the previous limit of 25.

This change comes after Amazon originally introduced the ad-free tier two years ago when they shifted all Prime Video users to an ad-supported plan. The commercial-free option was initially priced at $2.99 per month, but with this update, it’s now becoming part of the Ultra plan.

If you’re interested in locking in the current rate before the price hike takes effect on April 10, you can opt for an annual plan at $45.99, which offers a 23% discount compared to the monthly rate.

In addition to the price increase, Amazon is adding some cool new features to their ad-supported plan. They’re incorporating Dolby Vision and expanding the number of shows or movies you can download for offline viewing to 50. Plus, the number of concurrent streams is going up from three to four.

This price update is just one example of the streaming world getting more expensive. Amazon has also been ramping up the number of ads on Prime Video, which has caused some backlash among viewers. As the competition in the streaming industry heats up, it’s no surprise that prices are on the rise.
