Are Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone and The Madison Connected?

Taylor Sheridan, the mastermind behind the hit show Yellowstone, is gearing up to release a new series on Paramount+ this Saturday, March 14. The Madison, starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell, is said to be Sheridan’s most “intimate” work yet. But are Yellowstone and The Madison connected in terms of the storyline? Let’s delve into the details.

The Madison explores a profound love story intertwined with a deeply personal family drama that delves into themes of resilience and transformation. Set in Montana’s stunning landscape and the bustling energy of Manhattan, this series uncovers the bonds that unite families in the face of unexpected tragedy.

While Yellowstone and The Madison share the backdrop of Montana in the present day, they are not directly connected in terms of narrative. The Madison does not intertwine with the Marshals spinoff featuring Kayce Dutton or the Dutton Ranch spinoff centered around Beth and Rip. However, given their shared setting, crossover episodes are certainly a possibility, even though they may not be in the cards just yet.

Initially announced as a part of the Yellowstone universe under the title 2024, The Madison joins other spinoffs like 1883 and 1923. Although a potential spinoff titled 1944 was announced, it has not yet materialized. Yellowstone itself aired for five successful seasons on Paramount Network, while The Madison Season 1 is set to premiere on March 14, with Season 2 already in the works. Additionally, Marshals is currently airing on Sundays on CBS, and Dutton Ranch is slated for release in 2026.

The Madison is primarily set in the Madison River Valley in southwest Montana and New York City. Filming took place in Montana, similar to Yellowstone, with some scenes shot in Fort Worth, Texas, where Sheridan’s production studio is located in partnership with Paramount and Hilwood. Paradise Valley, the backdrop for Yellowstone, is situated in the southwest region, roughly 1.5 to 2 hours away from the Madison River Valley.

Season 1 of The Madison consists of six episodes, set to be released in two parts on March 14 and March 21. The star-studded cast includes names like Beau Garrett, Elle Chapman, Matthew Fox, Rebecca Spence, Patrick J. Adams, Kevin Zegers, Ben Schnetzer, Danielle Vasinova, Will Arnett, and more.

So mark your calendars for the premiere of The Madison, Season 1 Part 1 on Saturday, March 14, followed by Part 2 on March 21, both available on Paramount+.
