Popular Streaming Service to Begin App Shutdown in the Coming Month

Hulu, a popular streaming service, is going through some big changes. Disney, the parent company of Hulu, announced that the Hulu app will be merged into the Disney+ platform, which means the end of Hulu as a standalone service.

While Disney hasn’t given a specific end date for the app, Nintendo recently announced that support for the Hulu app on the Switch system will be ending next month. According to Nintendo, the Hulu app will no longer be available on the eShop starting February 5, 2026.

Although Disney has not officially confirmed February 5 as the end date, if support does end on that day, the Hulu app will no longer work on the Switch. It’s unclear if other smart TVs and gaming consoles will also follow suit, but it seems like a larger phase-out is happening.

Disney mentioned in October that this transition will come with some design and navigation improvements to provide a better user experience. A lot of Hulu’s content is already accessible on Disney+, so users looking to make the switch early can log in using their existing Hulu credentials. Within Disney+, Hulu will have its own dedicated hub or tab, but users may need a bundle or an upgraded subscription to access Hulu-specific content.

Hulu has been a key player in the streaming world since it launched in 2007, amassing over 55 million U.S. subscribers. In 2019, Disney became the majority owner of Hulu, and by 2025, it took full ownership of the service. So, if you’re a Hulu fan, be prepared for some changes ahead!
