Tuesday Dramas Shine in Midseason Premieres

ABC’s Tuesday dramas had a stellar midseason premiere week, with “The Rookie,” “High Potential,” and “Will Trent” all surpassing expectations and delighting viewers. Meanwhile, the Season 4 premiere of “Will Trent” drew in 8.91 million Total Viewers and a 1.05 rating among Adults 18-49, exceeding the previous season’s finale viewership by 12%. The show also had its best performance in almost a year. With 7.21 million Total Viewers on linear TV, “Will Trent” secured the No. 2 spot among scripted programs for the week.

“The Rookie” returned with a bang, filming its season premiere on location in Prague and attracting 9.35 million Total Viewers and a 1.97 rating among Adults 18-49. This marks a 6% increase in viewership compared to the previous season’s premiere and average, delivering the show’s strongest performance since last March. In fact, it achieved its best ratings in over six years, making it a standout hit. Additionally, “The Rookie” had the biggest premiere on streaming platforms and ranked in the top five ABC premieres on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+.

“The Rookie” also stood out on social media, becoming the most talked-about program of the week across broadcast and cable, with a substantial increase in social interactions compared to the Season 7 debut. Viewers can catch “The Rookie” in its new timeslot on Mondays, following “American Idol,” and can look forward to ABC’s new drama “RJ Decker” joining the Tuesday lineup in March.
