Netflix’s First Original Podcasts with Pete Davidson and Michael Irvin

Netflix is ramping up its investment in video podcasts, introducing two new original series featuring comedian Pete Davidson and former football player Michael Irvin.

Set to debut on January 19, Irvin’s show “The White House” and Davidson’s show “The Pete Davidson Show” on January 30 will be exclusive to Netflix subscribers.

These podcasts aim to capitalize on the popularity of their hosts. Davidson has already had success with two comedy specials on Netflix, while Irvin was featured prominently in the documentary series “America’s Team: The Gambler and His Cowboys.”

In Davidson’s show, viewers can expect candid conversations with his friends from his garage, airing every Friday. On the other hand, Irvin’s show will offer sports news, analysis, and commentary twice a week with guest co-hosts like former NFL All-Pro wide receiver Brandon Marshall.

These shows will add to Netflix’s expanding lineup of video podcasts, which includes licensed titles from iHeartMedia, Spotify, and Barstool Sports. Notably, these shows are not available in full on YouTube due to licensing agreements.

This move by Netflix comes as the company aims to compete with YouTube in the podcast space. In 2025, viewers watched over 700 million hours of podcasts per month on living room devices, showing the growing popularity of the format.

However, Netflix is still in the early stages of building its podcast library, facing tough competition from platforms like Spotify and YouTube that offer a wide variety of podcast options. To attract more viewers, Netflix will need to work on expanding its podcast offerings to capture a larger audience.

Overall, Netflix’s foray into original video podcasts with Pete Davidson and Michael Irvin shows the streaming giant’s commitment to diversifying its content and catering to various interests within its subscriber base.
