Apple TV Sets New Monthly Engagement Record with 36% Increase in Viewership

Apple TV had an exciting month in December, breaking its previous viewership record with a 36% increase in total hours viewed compared to the previous year. Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of services, shared in a memo that 2025 was a “record-breaking year” for Apple across various services like Apple Music, Pay, TV, News, and iCloud.

This milestone for Apple TV coincided with the launch of new content, including the streamer’s “biggest series to date” called “Pluribus,” the debut of the classic “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” and the global premiere of the series “F1.” The streamer saw significant audience growth in Europe and Latin America, as well as continued expansion in the U.S.

In addition, Apple’s summer blockbuster “F1” made history as the No. 1 movie at the global box office and the top film on Apple TV. The premiere of “Pluribus” also contributed to the record-breaking year for the streamer. Apple TV received accolades with “The Studio” being recognized as the most-awarded freshman comedy at the Emmy Awards, while the sci-fi series “Severance” was the most-awarded drama of the year.

Looking towards the future, Cue mentioned that Apple will continue to focus on innovation and enhancements to their services while prioritizing privacy and delivering a great customer experience. Despite the achievement of record viewership, Apple has not disclosed specific subscriber metrics or viewership numbers.

Exciting developments are in store for Apple TV, including a live sports collaboration with Major League Soccer and a new five-year agreement with Formula 1 to exclusively stream every F1 race on Apple TV in the United States. Keep an eye out for more updates as Apple continues to innovate and provide engaging content for its viewers.
