The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender to Stream Exclusively on Paramount+
Fans of Aang, get ready for some news! The highly anticipated movie, The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender, won’t be hitting theaters as originally planned. Instead, the animated feature will be premiering exclusively on Paramount+ next fall. While it’s a bummer for those looking forward to a big-screen experience, this shift marks a significant change in plans for Avatar Studios.
Originally slated for a theatrical release, The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender was greenlit under the previous Paramount Animation administration. The release date has gone through various changes, with the most recent date set for October 9, 2026. Despite this change, Paramount still promises at least 15 theatrical releases next year.
Directed by Lauren Montgomery, with Steve Ahn and William Mata also on board, the film picks up after the events of Avatar: The Last Airbender. We follow Avatar Aang, joined by his friends, as they embark on a mission to safeguard an ancient power that could save his culture from extinction.
The voice cast includes Taika Waititi, Geraldine Viswanathan, and more, bringing to life a story that promises adventure and discovery. While it may not be hitting theaters, fans can still enjoy the movie on Paramount+.
And if that’s not enough Avatar content for you, Avatar Studios is also developing a brand-new 2D animated series titled Avatar: Seven Havens. With Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko at the helm, fans can expect a captivating story set in a fractured world post the era of Korra.
While the news of The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender skipping theaters may come as a disappointment to fans, it’s clear that the Avatar universe is finding a new home on Paramount+, ensuring that Aang’s adventures continue to captivate audiences.
