ESPN FC Women’s Rank Soccer Special Now Available on Disney+

ESPN FC is back with its fifth annual ranking of the top 50 players in women’s soccer worldwide. To celebrate, ESPN is airing a special program that will be available on both ESPN+ and Disney+ globally.

Tune in to ESPN+ on Wednesday, December 24th at 7 a.m. ET to catch the ESPN FC Women’s Rank, hosted by Cristina Alexander, featuring analysis from former USWNT star Ali Krieger and Natalia Astrain.

The highlight of the show will be an interview with the top-ranked player, Aitana Bonmati from Spain’s FC Barcelona. Bonmati, a three-time Women’s Ballon d’Or winner, is considered the powerhouse behind the World Cup champions and Champions League winners. Following closely behind Bonmati is her teammate Alexia Putellas, another Ballon d’Or winner. The top five also includes Mariona Caldentey from Arsenal and Alessia Russo from England. Representing North America is Temwa Chawinga from the Kansas City Current.

Surprisingly, the highest-ranked American player is Emily Fox from Arsenal, coming in at 23rd. Despite having a total of 7 players in the top 50, the USA falls short of cracking the top 20.

Women’s soccer has been gaining momentum globally, with Netflix set to air the Women’s World Cup in 2027, and CBS showcasing the Women’s Champions League alongside the men’s games. ESPN’s spotlight on women’s soccer on Disney+ reflects the growing interest in the sport worldwide.
