Disney+ and Hulu Build World’s Largest Gingerbread House for Guinness Record

Disney+ and Hulu are teaming up for an exciting holiday project that aims to build the world’s largest gingerbread house, hoping to secure a Guinness World Record that has been unbeaten since 2013. This incredible structure, located at the busy intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street, is no small feat—it boasts a whopping 5,700 pounds of all-purpose flour and over 4,200 eggs.

Open to the public on the evenings of December 18 and 19, this festive initiative draws inspiration from the classic 1990 Christmas movie, Home Alone. Standing tall at over 25 feet and stretching 58 feet in length with a width of 42 feet, the gingerbread house is a tribute to the film that we all love. Constructed with 4,400 gingerbread brick tiles, 800 roof tiles, and secured with 20 gallons of edible glue and 20 pounds of fondant, this gingerbread masterpiece showcases the dedication and craftsmanship behind this joyful project.

While the gingerbread house is truly a sight to behold, it’s important to remember that it’s not for eating! However, all are welcome to come and enjoy the holiday spirit, and visitors are encouraged to bring unwrapped toy donations for Toys for Tots, adding a charitable touch to the festivities.

Zack Jerome, Vice President of Brand and Marketing Strategy for Disney+, expressed his excitement for this creative endeavor, highlighting the film’s enduring appeal as a holiday favorite for families. “We can’t wait to bring elements from the film to life so people can experience them up close,” he shared.

Los Angeles is fully embracing the 35th anniversary of Home Alone this year, with themed events happening throughout the city. From a special screening at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures featuring Macaulay Culkin and director Chris Columbus to Little Nero’s Pizza offering a taste of nostalgia, there are plenty of ways to keep the Home Alone magic alive. And for those who can’t get enough, both the original film and its sequel are available for streaming on Disney+, ensuring that fans can enjoy the classic holiday antics whenever they want.
