Meta introduces Disney+ to Quest headsets
Meta has officially launched the Disney+ streaming app on its Quest headsets in the United States. This exciting news comes after Meta’s Connect event announcement earlier this year. Now, users can enjoy Disney’s extensive content library through the Horizon TV hub, a new feature introduced by Meta.
During the Connect event, Meta shared its plans to integrate Disney+ into its VR platform. The app is now live and allows VR users to stream their favorite Disney shows and movies directly on their Quest devices. This move specifically targets Meta’s VR audience in the US market, providing a convenient and immersive viewing experience.
To enhance the entertainment system on Quest headsets, Meta introduced the Horizon TV hub. This central location consolidates all streaming services, making it easier for users to access multiple platforms in one place on their headsets. Plus, the latest update to Horizon TV includes support for Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos technologies, offering premium subscribers an enhanced cinematic experience.
Premium Disney+ subscribers can take advantage of Dolby Vision for improved viewing quality and Dolby Atmos for superior sound. With over 100 titles from Disney’s catalog supporting 4K UHD and HDR resolutions, users can enjoy a high-quality streaming experience right from their Quest devices. Additionally, some Marvel and Pixar titles feature IMAX’s expanded aspect ratio, adding to the immersive experience.
Currently, the Disney+ app is only available to US-based Quest users, but Meta plans to expand its availability internationally soon. Stay tuned for updates on this exciting collaboration between Meta and Disney, bringing premium streaming content to VR users.
