The latest numbers are in for The Fantastic Four: First Steps on Disney+, and they’re not as high as some might have hoped. In the film’s first five days on the platform, it racked up 4.9 million Equivalent Completed Views, making it the lowest opening for any Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) title on Disney+ yet. This places the movie at the bottom of the list when it comes to streaming performance for the franchise.

Despite the excitement surrounding the arrival of The Fantastic Four in the MCU, the viewership numbers for First Steps tell a different story. With only 4.9 million views in the first five days, the response seems to be lukewarm. In comparison, earlier 2025 releases like Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts outperformed First Steps with 6.4 million and 5.5 million views, respectively. Even movies like The Marvels and Eternals, which faced criticism for their box office performance, surpassed First Steps with 5.3 million and 9.2 million views.

To put it into perspective, one of the MCU’s recent streaming successes, Deadpool and Wolverine, garnered 19.4 million global views in its first six days on Disney+.

The lackluster response to The Fantastic Four: First Steps adds to existing worries about the MCU’s streaming performance. With several recent projects opening to weaker numbers, there’s uncertainty about the franchise’s ability to maintain viewer engagement on Disney+. All eyes are now on Marvel’s 2026 lineup, which includes major sequels and the return of beloved characters.
