Handmaid’s Tale Sequel The Testaments Confirms Release Window for Spin-off Announcement

Hulu has exciting news for fans of The Handmaid’s Tale. The follow-up series, The Testaments, is set to premiere in April, and we got a sneak peek at some first-look images during CCXP25 in Brazil.

Based on Margaret Atwood’s acclaimed novel of the same name, The Testaments takes viewers back to the world of Gilead, years after the events of The Handmaid’s Tale. This time around, we’ll see Ann Dowd returning as Aunt Lydia, leading a talented ensemble cast that includes familiar faces like Chase Infiniti, Lucy Halliday, Rowan Blanchard, and Mattea Conforti. The cast also features Isolde Ardies, Shechinah Mpumlwana, and Birva Pandya.

The series follows Aunt Lydia, Agnes, and Daisy as their lives intertwine in a rebellion against Gilead. While there’s no confirmed UK broadcaster yet, since The Testaments is a Hulu original in the US, it’s highly likely it will be available on Disney Plus in the UK, just like The Handmaid’s Tale.

Samira Wiley, who starred in The Handmaid’s Tale, has made it clear that she won’t be returning for The Testaments. She expressed her desire to move on to different stories and experiences, but she appreciates the impact of Margaret Atwood’s work on her career.

The Testaments has been developed for TV by Bruce Miller, who also serves as the showrunner and executive producer. Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to the premiere date.
