The International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) has just announced an exciting new partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) Sports Europe that promises to bring the thrilling sports of bobsleigh and skeleton to even more viewers across Europe during the upcoming Olympic winter season. This partnership, which was revealed at the IBSF World Cup season opener in Cortina d’Ampezzo, will kick off this weekend with dedicated highlights programs covering all the action from the IBSF World Cups. Fans in over 50 countries will be able to catch these broadcasts on Eurosport 1, Eurosport 2, as well as on the discovery+ and HBO Max streaming platforms.
German fans, who have a particular passion for bobsleigh and skeleton, will also be treated to live coverage of select World Cups, including the one in Cortina, on Eurosport 1. With this new partnership, bobsleigh and skeleton will have the opportunity to reach more than 150 million households across Europe, building on the existing broadcast and streaming relationships in key markets.
Trojan Paillot, the SVP of Sports Rights Acquisitions and Syndication at WBD Sports Europe, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating that their goal is to bring coverage of winter sports, like bobsleigh and skeleton, to a wider audience in the lead up to the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026. By adding these sports to their portfolio, fans can expect more action and access to the biggest stars in the sport on their channels and platforms.
IBSF President Ivo Ferriani also shared his enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting the perfect timing of this collaboration during an Olympic season. He emphasized the incredible skills and courage of the athletes who participate in these high-speed, high-intensity sports, and how they are sure to captivate audiences of all ages. With Warner Bros. Discovery on board, the visibility of bobsleigh and skeleton is set to soar to new heights, reaching both longtime fans and newcomers alike.
