EA F1 Game Release Delayed to 2027 with DLC Plan for 2026

In an interesting twist, Electronic Arts, the publisher of the official Formula 1 game, has decided not to release a new title following F1 25 next year. Instead, they’re planning to offer an expansion pack for the 2026 season filled with team and roster updates.

Described as a “premium content upgrade,” this expansion will reflect the major changes happening in the 2026 season, introducing fans to new cars, sporting rules, teams, and drivers. While we don’t have details on pricing or release date yet, EA has typically launched F1 titles in late May or mid-June over the past few years.

The next full game won’t be available until 2027, but EA is building up the excitement already. Promising a “deeply authentic and innovative representation of the action and thrill of Formula 1,” the 2027 release is said to offer a more expansive gameplay experience with new ways to engage fans worldwide.

EA credits some of F1 25’s strong sales to the addition of content from the F1 movie into the game. Interestingly, their statement acknowledges that a third of the sport’s current fans started following F1 in the last four years, a trend that EA, having taken over Codemasters and the F1 license in 2021, is keeping a keen eye on.

While news of this strategic investment in the F1 series spans multiple years, the exact duration remains unknown. With the evolving landscape of F1, particularly in the US where races will be exclusive to Apple TV+ next year, EA’s decision to prioritize and invest in the F1 game series makes sense.

F1 25’s success seems to have exceeded EA’s expectations, as CEO Andrew Wilson disclosed a notable 27% increase in net bookings compared to the previous year back in July.
