Upcoming Disney+ Series Criticized for Resemblance to Nazi Medal
An upcoming series on Disney+ called “The Remarried Empress” has faced criticism for featuring a prop that resembles a Nazi medal. The production company, Studio N, has issued an apology for overlooking this issue.
Studio N expressed deep regret for the oversight and acknowledged the discomfort it caused. They have promised to carefully review costume props to prevent such incidents in the future.
During Disney+’s “Original Preview 2025” event in Hong Kong on November 13, still cuts from “The Remarried Empress” were revealed. However, users on social media platforms quickly noticed the similarity between a medal worn by a lead actor in the promotional photo and a Nazi Germany medal.
A side-by-side comparison revealed resemblances in the design, colors, and ribbon of the two medals. Studio N admitted to not properly vetting the prop beforehand.
“The Remarried Empress” is based on a web novel and is a romance fantasy set in a fictional empire. The story follows Empress Navier, played by Shin Min-a, who seeks a divorce from Emperor Sovieshu to marry Prince Heinrey of the Western Kingdom.
This incident highlights the importance of thoroughly checking all aspects of production to avoid unintentional controversies.
