Netflix’s Top Movie: Fans Surprised by Main Character’s Popularity
Another week, another new Netflix number one, and this time the buzz is about more than just the film itself. It’s no surprise that Guillermo del Toro’s much-anticipated Frankenstein has claimed the top spot, but it’s not the story or the director’s gothic style that’s got everyone talking—it’s the main characters. Fans are absolutely thirsting over them.
The 2025 American gothic drama, based on Mary Shelley’s classic novel, stars Oscar Isaac as Victor Frankenstein and Jacob Elordi as the Creature, and they have seriously resonated with viewers.
Critics are taking notice too. Elordi’s portrayal of the monster has been called “never been hotter” by Polygon, “kind of hot” by CNN, and Digital Spy didn’t hold back, describing him as a “hot monster.”
And Isaac’s take on Victor Frankenstein is not to be overlooked. Fans are swooning over his performance, with one Reddit user writing, “Thank you for making Oscar Isaac hot because he is,” while another simply exclaimed, “He is a beautiful, beautiful man.”
But it’s not just about looks—the film has been garnering praise from both critics and audiences. With an 86 percent critic rating and an impressive 95 percent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, Frankenstein is a hit all around.
For those who need a refresher, the film follows Victor Frankenstein, a scientist whose experiment to create life takes a dangerous turn when his monstrous creation comes to life. Alongside Isaac and Elordi, the cast includes Mia Goth as Elizabeth, as well as Felix Kammerer, David Bradley, Lars Mikkelsen, Christian Convery, Charles Dance, and Christoph Waltz in supporting roles.
Frankenstein is currently available for streaming on Netflix, so be sure to check it out if you haven’t already.
