Apple TV to stream all F1 races in the U.S. under new 5-year media deal

Apple and Formula 1 fans, get ready for some exciting news! Apple and Formula 1 have teamed up to bring all F1 races to Apple TV starting in 2026. This five-year media rights deal means that every Formula 1 event, including practice, qualifying, and Sprint sessions, will be available on Apple TV as part of the existing $12.99 per month subscription, without any ads. Plus, selected F1 races and all practice sessions will also be offered for free in the Apple TV app throughout the season.

Apple is investing around $140 million per year for these racing rights, a jump from the $85 million per year that ESPN, the previous broadcaster, was paying. ESPN has been the media partner for the league, but now Apple is taking the reins to provide comprehensive coverage for F1 fans in the U.S.

For F1 enthusiasts who enjoy the league’s own content offering, F1 TV Premium, don’t worry—it will still be available in the U.S. However, you’ll need an Apple TV subscription to access it. Once you subscribe to Apple TV, F1 TV Premium will be included in your Apple subscription, making it a seamless experience for fans.

Apple is diving into live sports with Formula 1, aiming to enhance the user experience with unique production elements and product enhancements. Apple’s Senior Vice President of Services, Eddy Cue, expressed Apple’s commitment to offering something distinct in the sports streaming landscape. This partnership with Formula 1 follows the success of “F1: The Movie,” starring Brad Pitt, which Cue described as the highest-grossing sports movie of all time this year.

Stefano Domenicali, Formula 1’s president and CEO, shared his excitement about the collaboration, stating that it will help maximize growth potential in the U.S. This partnership signifies a new chapter for Formula 1 and Apple, promising an engaging viewing experience for fans.

So get ready to immerse yourself in the world of Formula 1 on Apple TV, with expert commentary from F1 TV and Sky broadcast announcers. Stay tuned for more updates as Apple unveils additional production details and enhancements for F1 fans in the coming months. This is a thrilling opportunity for Formula 1 enthusiasts to enjoy their favorite sport in a whole new way.
