Alabama Track and Field Prepares for World Athletics Championships

Get ready to cheer on some of Alabama’s finest athletes as they compete at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo! From September 13-21, the action will be broadcast on NBC Sports and Peacock, so you won’t miss a moment.

A total of 13 current and former student-athletes from the Alabama track and field program will be representing their countries across seven different nations. It’s a true testament to the talent and hard work that comes out of the Crimson Tide.

Here’s a quick rundown of the athletes you can look out for:

– Quanesha Burks (United States) – competing in the women’s long jump
– Tamara Clark (United States) – part of the women’s relay pool
– Filippa Fotopoulou (Cyprus) – participating in the women’s long jump
– Olivia Fotopoulou (Cyprus) – running in the women’s 200m
– Treneese Hamilton (Dominica)* – competing in the women’s shot put
– Daniel Haugh (United States) – throwing in the men’s hammer throw
– Kirani James (Grenada) – racing in the men’s 400m
– Doris Lemngole (Kenya)* – running in the women’s 3,000m steeplechase
– Shelby McEwen (United States) – high jumping for the men
– Khaleb McRae (United States) – also racing in the men’s 400m
– Samuel Ogazi (Nigeria)* – representing Nigeria in the men’s 400m
– Jereem Richards (Trinidad and Tobago) – competing in the men’s 400m
– Chris Robinson (United States) – hurdling in the men’s 400m hurdles

The meet will be held at the Japan National Stadium in Tokyo, with events scheduled daily from the 13th to the 21st.
