Disney+ Ends Partnership with Marvel Studios’ Longest-Running Show

Disney+ has said goodbye to one of Marvel Studios’ long-running shows, signaling a possible cancellation. Back in 2021, Marvel started exploring TV with Disney+ and introduced Marvel Studios’ Assembled alongside the popular WandaVision. The show took fans behind the scenes of making the studio’s recent TV and film releases, with each scripted MCU project from 2021 to 2024 getting its own episode.

However, it looks like 2024 might have been the endpoint for Marvel Studios’ Assembled, as no new episodes have appeared on Disney+ in 2025, despite several new MCU projects hitting the streaming service this year.

Other Disney+ Marvel series have faced a similar fate. “Ms. Marvel,” which premiered in Summer 2022, brought the beloved character Kamala Khan to life but has not been renewed for a second season. “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law,” which explored a workplace sitcom scenario in 2022, was reportedly quite expensive to produce and was termed as having “blew [its] budget” by lead actress Tatiana Maslany.

“Secret Invasion” in 2023 starring Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury did not resonate well with all fans and struggled with negative critiques, making a second season unlikely. “Echo,” a spin-off from 2024, could not muster enough enthusiasm to warrant another season despite its engaging story and characters.

“What If…?” was Marvel’s first animated show, exploring alternate timelines of the Multiverse, which was confirmed not to have a Season 3 by a Marvel executive in late 2024. However, a thread from the show will continue in “Marvel Zombies.” “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” led to Sam Wilson taking on the mantle of Captain America, with a feature film called “Captain America: Brave New World” released after the show’s finale, making a TV return for Sam Wilson as Cap unlikely.

Marvel Studios’ Assembled, which usually releases episodes after a new MCU Disney+ series, has not produced specials for releases like “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man,” “Captain America: Brave New World,” “Daredevil: Born Again,” or “Thunderbolts” in 2025, further hinting at its apparent cessation for the time being.
